Our Tech Support team assists Teapot members with the installation, configuration, and\u00a0<\/span>ongoing usability of desktop computers, tablets, mobile phones, <\/span>peripheral equipment, and software. As well as, a<\/span>ssist with the installation and operation of <\/span>Zoom and answer any<\/span> other technical questions <\/span>they may have.<\/span><\/p>\n

Will be reimbursed for mileage!<\/p>\n

The Teapot, a multi-resource centre serving Lachine\u2019s 50+ community, is currently seeking a treasurer to sit on the organization\u2019s Board of Directors.<\/b><\/p>\n

Through their involvement with the Board of Directors, the treasurer will have a hand in making decisions regarding our organization\u2019s strategic planning, support the development of policies, plan for best practices, and develop funding, networking, and outreach opportunities. The Treasurer must have a background in accounting or related field. This is a one-year replacement, followed by a final two-term.<\/span><\/p>\n

Every week, a dedicated group of volunteers shops for up to 60 different individuals or couples who belong to the 50+ community in Lachine who are unable to shop for themselves.<\/span><\/p>\n

Volunteers are given several grocery lists to fulfill; once one list is complete, Teapot staff members will process the transaction at the cash and the volunteer moves on to the next order.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our volunteers are given advance entry to the store to ensure social distancing is maintained, and to facilitate the smooth running of this important program.<\/span><\/p>\n

Volunteer Job Description<\/b><\/p>\n

Do you have a passion for sewing? Come share your skills by helping our members with all of their alteration needs!<\/p>\n

The seamstress\/tailor will help clients at the alterations kiosque, complete alterations and repairs at home, contact clients when work is finished, and collect fees. Will be reimbursed for mileage and materials.<\/p>\n

Volunteers will need to have access to a sewing machine and are able to pick-up supplies from stores when needed.<\/p>\n

  • In collaboration with The Teapot\u2019s Activity Coordinator, create a walking itinerary for each group meeting<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Welcome members<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Explain itinerary and safety regulations (positioning on the road, hand signals, pint out pot-holes, etc.)<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Guide the members on the pre-established biking itinerary<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Facilitate a variety of skill levels; ranging from strong walkers who simply enjoy walking with others to newer walkers who cannot walk for extended periods<\/span><\/li>\n
  • If able, discuss Lachine\u2019s history and heritage during walks<\/span><\/li>\n

                          Are you tech savvy? In the wake of the pandemic, many members of the 50+ community have become <\/span>socially isolated due to technological barriers.<\/p>

                          Our Tech Support team assists Teapot members with the installation, configuration, and\u00a0<\/span>ongoing usability of desktop computers, tablets, mobile phones, <\/span>peripheral equipment, and software. As well as, a<\/span>ssist with the installation and operation of <\/span>Zoom and answer any<\/span> other technical questions <\/span>they may have.<\/span><\/p>

                          Every week, a dedicated group of volunteers shops for up to 60 different individuals or couples who belong to the 50+ community in Lachine who are unable to shop for themselves.<\/span><\/p>

                          Volunteers are given several grocery lists to fulfill; once one list is complete, Teapot staff members will process the transaction at the cash and the volunteer moves on to the next order.<\/span><\/p>

                          Our volunteers are given advance entry to the store to ensure social distancing is maintained, and to facilitate the smooth running of this important program.<\/span><\/p>

                          Every week, volunteers call nearly 60 individuals or couples from Lachine\u2019s 50+ community to take down their weekly grocery orders.<\/span><\/p>

                          Volunteers are provided with a list of names to call at a pre-established time between Tuesday and Thursday (by noon at the latest), and orders can be transcribed directly into a template found in Google Docs.<\/span><\/p>

                          Bilingualism is an asset, as is a familiarity with the items and brands typically carried in local supermarkets.<\/span><\/p>

                          Our reassurance calls ensure that anyone who could use a short, light conversation to pass the time or feel connected to another person is able to access this crucial service. <\/span><\/p>

                          Volunteers are given a list of members who have signed up to receive these calls. Orientation for volunteers is provided in conjunction with our Community Support Services.<\/span><\/p>
