A New Vision for Volunteerism in Lachine<\/strong><\/h3>\nLast year, our Executive Director joined the board of Concert’Action Lachine.<\/strong> Through various community projects, it became clear that Lachine needed to reflect on volunteerism. With growing projects and citizen involvement, we sought ways to utilize our resources better and adopt best practices. At The Teapot, we aim to be a blueprint for community development, sharing our tools to help the community thrive.<\/p>\nWith support from Concert’Action and the Quartier Inclusif et R\u00e9silient project,<\/strong> we organized a gathering of agencies working with volunteers. In January and March, we held two gatherings as part of our ongoing effort to strengthen volunteerism within our community. During our first meeting, we explored how each agency manages volunteers and discussed how we can pool our resources to improve efficiency and impact. For our second meeting, we were fortunate to receive expert advice from Lynda Barrett of the West Island Volunteer Bureau.<\/strong> Lynda shared her insights on the history of volunteerism and the evolving trends shaping a new era of community-driven engagement.<\/p>\nThe key takeaway from both sessions is the importance of a shared approach: hiring a dedicated volunteer coordinator who can support each organization in developing strategies and policies that focus on recruitment, recognition, and sustaining volunteer involvement. This collective approach will help ensure a thriving and collaborative volunteer community. Together, we can create a more unified and impactful volunteer experience for all. By optimizing volunteer management and fostering collaboration, we hope to enhance our collective impact and better serve our communities.<\/p>\n
