Strengthening Community Connections: Our Partnership with OMHM in Lachine

We are proud to highlight our partnership with the Office Municipal d’Habitation de Montréal (OMHM) in Lachine, which began in September and has allowed us to expand our outreach efforts to five senior residences. Through this initiative, The Teapot 50+ Centre is fostering stronger connections and ensuring that older adults have access to essential services and community engagement opportunities.

From September to November, our Door-to-Door initiative provided one-on-one contact with over 300 individuals in each residence, allowing us to engage directly with seniors, understand their needs, and introduce our services. Following this, we organized gatherings to share our mission and collaborate with resident committee members, strengthening community involvement and advocacy.

We are pleased that residents have welcomed ongoing weekly services, creating direct connections and offering a platform for open dialogue. Through this partnership, we have provided essential advocacy, resources, and opportunities for seniors to voice their aspirations for improving their living conditions.

Beyond in-residence support, we recognize the importance of offering outings and social activities to help break isolation. Our Cabane à sucre trip is one example of how we create opportunities for seniors to connect, enjoy shared experiences, and engage with the broader community.

This collaboration has made a meaningful impact on some of our community’s most vulnerable members. By bringing services directly to seniors and encouraging participation in activities beyond their residences, we are helping to reduce isolation, promote well-being, and strengthen community bonds.

We are grateful for the support of Centraide and CHSSN, whose funding allows us to continue our outreach mission and enhance the quality of life for seniors in our community.
