The Teapot 50+ is a non-profit, community membership-based organization that provides a variety of activities and services that encourage healthy ageing and help support independent living. Participants must be 50 years and older.

FAQ & Policies

Find out the details of our membership and what it entails. 

Do I have to become a participant?

It is more beneficial to become a participant to have access to our many activities and courses. However, non-members are charged an additional fee to participate in specific activities. For trips, they are required to pay an extra $10.00 and must complete a Day Membership Form. For workshops, it is also an extra $10.00. For lunches and special events, it is an extra 50% on the cost. For physical activities, non-members are welcome to try one class for the drop-in fee of $7.00.

How can I register to be a participant?

If you are 50 years or older, you can register online or call us at 514-637-5627 to make an appointment to register in person.

What are the participant fees?

This year, it is  FREE to become a participant of The Teapot.

For an additional $5, you can receive our Tea Leaves Newsletter by mail. 

 

What are the payment methods accepted?

We accept cash, cheque, debit and credit cards. You can pay online or make an appointment to pay in person.

Can I bring or register a guest?

During registration, participants may register one friend, if they have all their information

  • name
  • phone number
  • membership number

Guests are welcome. They will be charged an additional fee.

What is a membership year at The Teapot?

The Teapot’s membership year is September to August.

What is the registration policy?

All participants must register in advance. You must pay at the time of registration for courses, physical activities, trips, and special events.

  • For meal programs and free activities, registration may be taken over the phone or by email.
  • All activities have a limited amount of space. Registration is on a first come first serve basis for members and non-members.
  • In order to efficiently coordinate our trips and events, please register at least 5 business days before the event or trip.
  • If an activity is full, they will be placed on a waiting list. The waiting list will be contacted when space becomes available.
How can I request a refund for an activity?

Refunds are only given if it is 14-days prior to event/trip, The Teapot cancels, there is someone on the waiting list, member only attended first class of session, or extenuating circumstances. Members cannot give their spot to a friend; it must be given to the waiting list.

Is there parking?

As of September 2016, Teapot members and guests will be allowed to park for free in the Maison du Brasseur & Vieille Brasserie parking lots for a maximum of 4 hours.

Parking passes will be given to staff, volunteers, and students who need to be at the centre over 4 hours. 

Do you offer transportation?

The Teapot offers transportation to our centre for special events and Footcare Clinic.

When should I Schedule Transport Adapté?

Members who use Transport Adapté must schedule their transport to arrive at The Teapot no earlier than 9:00am and to leave The Teapot no later than 3:30pm.

When going on a trip, members should speak with the Activity Coordinator before booking their transport to confirm itinerary.

Do you offer financial aid?

Yes, we offer subsidies. The Teapot will not turn anyone away because of an inability to pay. Subsidies for activities and services may be available based on specific criteria and an evaluation.

What are the office hours?

Our staff is available to speak with you from 9:30am to 3:30pm. We close for lunch from 12:00pm-1:00pm.
