At The Teapot 50+ Centre, we are proud to lead initiatives that empower seniors to live with dignity, autonomy, and security.  Through our ‘Autonomy and Financial Security 50+’ project, financially supported by the Jeannine Esther Foundation, Programme de soutien aux organismes communautaires (PSOC) and the Grace Dart Foundation.

We help Lachine seniors navigate the complex world of government benefits. From bilingual tax assistance to housing applications, we provide the year-round support needed to ensure our members receive their full financial entitlements. This work is essential for helping our community live with dignity and independence.

The project addresses the root causes of financial insecurity, helping seniors maintain stable housing, access vital social and health programs, and bridge the digital divide. Central to its success is the human connection offered by the Intervention Team with personalized support and collaboration with local partners.

How We Make an Impact

  • Provide year-round bilingual support for taxes and benefits.
  • Assist seniors with complex administrative tasks like housing, government benefits, and overall well-being.
  • Offer digital literacy support to ensure seniors can access essential online services.
  • Engage staff and interns in social work and accounting, in partnership with local organizations including Carrefour d’entraide, Coviq, Comité de logement LaSalle, Comité de logement Lachine, and Project Réseau Éclairé.
  • Collaborate with CIUSSS and other community organizations to reach isolated seniors.
